Recently in China, the Trojan Virus attacks Android phones, so far the infection is only happen in China third party apps store.
The virus called “Geinimi,” will actually send out private information like phone location and attempts to send it to remote servers when unsuspecting users run the apps. The app also has the ability to receive commands, which could allow unknown parties to take over the device.
The actual intent of the virus is uknown yet, but Lookout speculates that it could be used for malicious mobile advertising, similar to pop-ups on a virus-infected PC, or to create an Android botnet, a potentially enormous network that can be remote controlled for criminal purposes ranging from sending spam to identity theft.
So in this case, sooner or later we will also need anti-virus for our phone.
